The Region 4 Assembly of the American Society of Civil Engineers is proud to conduct the Daniel V. Terrell Paper Competition for Younger Members. This prestigious competition has been held for over 60 years and commemorates Dean Terrell's many years of work and service to the Society and especially his leadership in the establishment of the District Council System, the predecessor of the Region 4 Assembly. All members, associate members or affiliates of ASCE (not including student members) who are 35 years of age or less on February 1, 2021, residing in Region 4, are eligible to submit papers in this competition.

ASCE Government Engineer of the Year Award Nominations Open

Nominations for the Norfolk Branch ASCE Government Civil Engineer of the Year are now being accepted. A nomination form is linked below. Below are the requirements for the award:

  • Professional registration and working for a local, state, federal, or other government jurisdiction in Hampton Roads Area

  • A sustained record of outstanding civil engineering performance in the public sector

  • Evidence of high character and professional integrity

  • A record of civic and humanitarian activities (community service)

  • Fifteen years minimum of continuous, outstanding civil engineering performance in the public sector

PEOPLE RECOGNIZED NATIONALLY OR INTERNATIONALLY NEED NOT BE NOMINATED.

The nomination form MUST be completed and submitted via email or mail to Mike Bumbaco by January 3, 2020 in order to be eligible for the award.  The recipient will be presented an award during the February 2020 Engineers' Banquet.
