On July 1, 2024, VDEQ released a new Stormwater Management Handbook, the first major overhaul of stormwater design guidance in over a decade. This document will be a living document (first revision made August 21, 2024) and it will replace the Stormwater BMP Clearinghouse. The Handbook contains construction BMPs, post-construction BMPs, and O&M information. DEQ hosted a webinar to walk users through the new Stormwater Management Handbook. This presentation is taking a deeper dive into post-construction BMPs, beyond the organizational changes to changes in design guidance, specifically for the Virginia coastal plain. We will also look at the differences between VRRM version 3.0 and 4.1. By July 1, 2025, all designs must follow guidance provided in the new Stormwater Handbook and the VRRM version 4.1
In addition to changes in the design guidance, some changes have been made to the Construction General Permit. These changes will be reviewed so we can be proactive with respect to these changes.
